“Our interest is to create a logistics product center that can supply food to both the Vologda region and the territory beyond its borders. We will implement our plans step by step. We also have an interest in timber complex,” Aram Khachatryan, representative of the Armavir region business delegation, said.
In particular, today at the meeting the parties discussed possible cooperation in trade, agriculture, timber complex, housing and utilities infrastructure.
Let us recall that in December 2017 the representative delegation of the Vologda region, including officials, heads of municipalities, business representatives (21 companies representing the food industry, construction, tourism, forestry, agriculture and other spheres), visited Armenia. Then the parties sealed willingness to continue the interaction by signing the Programme of Joint Activities for 2018-2020.
“If in 2016 the foreign trade turnover between the Vologda region and the Republic of Armenia was about 2.2 million dollars, then in 2017 it was 5.7 million. In the 1st quarter of 2018, it amounted to about 2 million dollars. This means that we are working in the right direction, although we understand that there are still a lot of zones for improving foreign trade turnover and its growth. We are very grateful that you have come to us and are ready to discuss in detail the issues of interest to you and the issues of interest to the Vologda region to improve our cooperation in economy, culture and social sphere,” Anton Koltsov, first Deputy Governor, Chairman of the Government, emphasized.
The cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. is actively developing between the Vologda region and the Republic of Armenia. In the non-competitive program of the XIV International Theater Festival “Voices of History” held in June this year, the Yerevan State Pantomime Theater presented the performing of Ardalion (based on the medieval Armenian Lives of the Saints of the 4th century) in the Vologda Kremlin. The performance was enthusiastically received by the spectators and marked by a special prize of the Mayor of Vologda. Within the framework of the VIII International Festival of Young European Cinema “VOICE”, which was held on July 5-8 in Vologda, the photo exhibition “The World of Sergey Parajanov” was opened, dedicated to the outstanding Armenian film director, and there was presented his film Color of Pomegranate.
